Well, people are doing exactly what he hoped they'd do. Get in a tizzy and pitch a fit and draw millions of potential viewers to tune in to his program to find out what the fuss is all about.

He hasn't been as flagrantly obnoxious in recent years, so I guess he thought he'd stir up the pot

Stern does exactly the same sorts of antics to drive up ratings.

If Imus was black, this would be no big deal. Black people are way too uptight about perceived racism. I listen to Imus every morning. He has put down every race or religion so many times over. He's a comedian like Chris Rock is a comedian. Why has every race risen above bias except the black race? My great-great grandparents immigrated to America and wouldn't be hired by protestants because they were catholic. So what did my race do? They came together, they persevered, they sent their children to college. If blacks could get it together, they wouldn't blink an eye when someone puts them down. Those women did not deserve Imus' comment. It was sexist. It was wrong. But hip hop songs say worse multiple times a day. Sharpton and the others never want to acknowledge this. The point is, if they're going to punish Imus, punish the true offenders of sexism and racism that our in their own community. That's the only way any change will occur.

It isn't normal rational people that are reacting to it.
It is only self serving, meaningless people like Al Sharpton and others with the help of the frenzy talking head media.

Don Imus has done more good in his life time even with his TV remarks and his drug history then all of the others who slam him could do in 5 life times. Now lets all move on.

i don't know who this dude is (never heard of him till this story) but my guess is he is a guy who already is not liked by a lot of people, therefore whenever he says anything offensive it is quickly jumped on. Kind of like rosie o'donnel (who i hate too) if she says anything racial then BAM! the media is all over it. But likable people can get away with more especially in the right setting. i.e. Anderson cooper on "The Daily show" imitated a middle easterner by going "Derka Derka" (like team america) and i did not hear ANY complaints.

No, granted he has been outspoken over the years but he has never used racial slurs before. I've listened to him since the 80's and this has never happened before...and if it had do you think the hundreds of "black" radio stations that carry his show would continue to do so?
