I've never seen my Dad cry in my 30 years. Neither would I want to.

Being over-emotional seems to be the fashion today. Look at people around you, especially in cities: shouting, talking over each other, sobbing and raging. Look at 'reality' TV, screaming, swearing and "OMG!" the whole time.

I think that 'the prevailling attitude' is that crying is now more acceptable for men - many even see it as desireable As a society we're no longer the courageous, reserved Brits of two generations ago: we're in danger of going too far the other way - and end up looking like squalling brats.

I don,t believe men should cry there was a time in the US that men did not cry. What happen was there were a small amount of white women who wanted a more sensitive man so white men being how they are started crying then all the other races started crying then the white women said that is not enough so they started having sex with each other. Now everyone is crying

Sorry but I don't like seeing grown men crying unless it's on a tv show or movie for then I know it's just acting or I can pretend the reality show contestints are pretend acting.
Of course if it's a funeral then it's okay too since everyone is supposed to be sad at one of those.

As far as I know, unless a limb is dangling or a loved one dies, most people don't think it is masculine.
I don't mind a man crying if he is in physical or emotional pain. However, I have met men who do it to be manipulative and I find that disgusting. Same for women.

Where I come from, in the US urban culture, men are only supposed to cry when something traumatic happens, like if their wife leaves them or their mother dies.

Same as anywhere else I guess. A man does not easily forgive anyone who has seen him crying. And whatever that man does, whoever has seen him crying will remember him for that.

in India its looked down upon if a man cries, and society for some reason rejects him as a man. people gossip about the guy being gay or something, and the whole situation is exaggerated.

it is looked down by guys themselves. we still live in a place where it's very feudal. the men are suppose to be strong, not to show any signs of weaknesses which is soo0o0o damn pathetic..because they're also human who have feelings and prone to pain.
