To save yourself the expense of a lawnmower and having to treat your weeds and nettles, why not buy a goat or two. This will keep your lawn short while the said goats will benefit from the nutrients derived from the nettles and dandelions. Hope this is of some help, good luck.

Why not take a leaf out of the Japanese garden and follow their garden design. Or even an Indian garden where less is more. By this I mean they have swathes of lawn but nothing much else apart from some fabulous planters. What a joy to get up in the morning and walk round a garden that has very little clutter. You could always design it in such a way that you have little corners hidden away for your own secret garden that will attract wildlife and the birds. Lawns may appear a lot of work but when you consider decking and stone chippings they are high maintenance also as they need weeding and painting but a well thought out and planned lawn well that will only need mowing and once a year overhaul. I wish I had given more thought when I designed my garden and opted out for the minimalistic approach. It's easy to add but far harder to take away.

Use systemic treatment for nettles and dandilion. If you need new mower, check into self propelled ( for the uneven areas ). Self propelled takes the strain out of pushing up and around hills. After youv'e mowed, apply a weed and feed fertilizer. Good luck.

Why are you using a lawn mower in your garden? If it is uneven use a lawn roller to even it out then use a mower with big wheels to give it that even appereance (if it is a lawn) If it is a garden use a hoe or rototiller.

get a rider mower or a lawn tractor. the tractor is more usefull around the yard. a rider mower is easyer to get in and out of places, but a lawn tractor you can pick up leaves plow snow, salt, and move things around the yard.

Rent one at http://www.hss.com/g/62227/Rotary_Mower__Petrol.html use their mower to get it cut first time, then just get a cheap one to keep it trim.

Better to knock the nuts out of their mower than yours!
