Truth can lead to change. Mercy sets yourself up to repeat.

Good lord! What a paradox!

My first instinct would be mercy. I tend to go with that and stick with it. No question can be answered absolutely...

Think of this situation.

Is is merciful to euthanize all dogs in shelters who are considered "aggressive"? or Is is merciful to house them in a no kill shelter forever because the cannot be placed in a true home setting? Which is of those 2 situations is mercy? If you are the dog would your opinion change?

What if you have a horrible disease that causes horrible pain that cannot be curred? Is is merciful to help someone end their life?

I don't know if Truth holds the same weight as Mercy when you look at the 2 of them together. But it's hard to choose which to have, because then you have to choose which side of mercy or truth for that matter you come down on.

Truth - even if it is hurtful. We all need the truth so that we can learn to handle problems and communicate better. Mercy is great, but it too often involves lies and delusion. We need to accept that there are unhappy truths out there before we can learn to change them. Honesty is a necessary component for healthy relationships. Don't hide from things that scare you - confront them!

Mercy, people confuse truth with morals.
Truth is a matter of perception.

For me mercy is an insult. And the truth is far more important...so I would prefer the truth.

while some doctrines instruct that each and each and every residing element is equivalent contained in the (philosophical) eyes of God, some instruct that human beings and animals are separate.
