Shana i wish you had said if it was a laptop or desktop but,I don't think it is video card problem - I'm thinking more of a monitor over heating problem - before doing anything on the back of most desktop monitors there is a power cord plug in make sure it is all the way plug in the back of the monitor do the easy stuff first {on luck} see if you can use a friend's monitor for a hour or so to see if you have the same problem , most all monitor will work don't adjust it ,just let run for a while because you will be give back {if the problem stops} you know that you have to do - the old walk to the street on trash day - if you have the same problem then think video card that a another day re-post or drop me a line ...good luck good day

Nearly impossible to diagnose from out here in cyberspace, but...
It really sounds like there is a weak electrical component in your monitor. It is not totally uncommon. What usually happens with a situation like this is that as the component slowly heats up after you turn on your monitor, the electrical capability of the component degrades or even shorts out.

If it's a CRT Monitor you have, it may not be worth the money to repair it. Most places around here get anywhere in the realm of $75 just to open it up and look things over. That being the case, and if you can afford a new LCD monitor, I'd go for the new monitor.

You can find some great deals on 19" Flat Panels on http://www.tigerdirect.com

Just make sure you get a min contrast ratio of 700:1

Good luck & I hope this helps.

Try the monitor on another PC. If it doesn't work still, get a new monitor. If it does, there may be something wrong with your video card.
