Not as far as I'm considered. I don't like Emo, and I love Rock. But don't you ever call Muse emo or I'll come and hunt you down! :p
Aparently, this is what I've heard from an Emo fella, Emo is not the music, it's just a state of mind. Whatever it is, I don't like it. It's always bands with a singer crying rather than singing and trying to arouse pity in people who listen to it... and you'd expect them to dig up knives soon and cut their arms when you hear their songs o.O

Well if it's emo, then emo is doing a pretty good job with being a genre. Example: Evanescence, Fall Out Boy, Good Charlotte, and Panic! at the Disco.

None of you really know what emo really is. Emo is not what everyone calls it today. Emo died awhile ago and calling today's music would be the same as calling a shoe a sock and then everyone calling your shoe a sock just because they are similar. Below is a good website to show you what the real meaning is. Get your labels right.

I always thought emo was a way of acting or portraying yourself, i.e. "Don't be so emo" (emotional, oversensitive, etc). So that would mean that anything or anyone could be considered emo depending on your perspective of how that person is acting at the time. This is a subjective statement then. So what might be viewed as emo to one person, might not be emo to another. One person might think that Fallout Boy is emo, while another person might think that's it's not. Because it is an opinion, both would be right.

Emotive music isn't rock you are totally right!! Emotive music is emotive music!! Although most people see emo as a label on people not a type of music. SO to them emo music is rock music because there is no such thing as emotive music! WHich in reality is a load of bull! So yes you are right to laugh at the fools who call emotive/emo music rock!!

Unfortunately, the lables that go with many styles of music have been banded together. EMO is kind of the bastard child of SKA and ROCK. I think some is good, most is awful.

I think those bands are just teen pop/rock, and emo is a way people express themselves when they need attention.
