in the recent houston vs sacamento game a houston player tipped a ball hard after a teammate missed a shot and the ball went to the back court without any sacramento player touching it and it is retrieved by another houston player...isnt this a back court violation? and if not who is credited with the rebound?

i saw the same game and was surprised that there was no call/i thought maybe if it was a rebound tip then maybe it wouldnt be a back court violation but it doesnt seem to be the consensus right answer,,,in terms of the rebound its listed as a team rebound and not credited to any player....

Thats Backcourt if nobody on the opposing team touched it. The tip may have happended too fast for the officials to determine who tipped it. In the NBA they will give you the benefit of the doubt on that situation to keep the flow of the game.

and if the opposing team had tapped it out of bounds...

That would be a Team Rebound. Some rebounds are given to the team and not an individual player.

It is a back court violation. Nobody is credited with the rebound.

Not every missed shot is a rebound. It doesn't sound like anyone would be credited with a rebound in this scenario.

It is considerd a team rebound, no one on particular is credited with the rebound.
