Ok, I am from Northern California and am frequently in San Francisco. I have taken a couple of trips to London for a total of over 4 weeks. I think London is a wonderful city and the people seem very nice. I think San Francisco is a beautiful city too, but it has a certain smell to it. I did not see this problem with London. It seems like the people in London have a bit more pride for their city and tend to keep it cleaner. Although the drunk bum I saw pulling down his pants and peeing in the middle of a crowd wasn't the best of sights.

London is an incredible city, that tends to divide people right down the middle. Either people love it and get it and feel it in their veins, or they hate it and fear it and the pace of it repels them.
Me, I'm a London-lover. First came here when I was 8, and it sang to me. Came back to study for my degree, and now live and work in it every day. London has a pace, a pulse, a danger and above all, a heartbeat that you pick up in your feet as you walk its streets. It is bigger than you, and older than you, and way way harder than you, but if you embrace it, London can give you everything you'd ever want. Coming from an insular community in Wales, the one main thing that first made London sing to me was its cosmopolitan heart - nobody really cares about your business, you can be exactly who you are and what you are, and everybody's too busy living their own lives as hard as they can to judge you or interfere in your day. But the idea that many people have of it being an unfriendly place is very flawed - it responds to you exactly as you are. If you're scared of it, it'll be scared of you and you'll be quiet and lonely and small and never really last here. If you go out and sing your song to London, London will sing it back to you in choirs of different voices and tones and harmonies. Be friendly and Londoners will treat you like a friend. It's the home of my heart, and it always will be.

Had to make a connecting flight in London. My missus got her bag stolen at a bus station with her passport, travellers cheques, phone, and tickets home inside! Deep Sh!
Then we met someone right after that owned a B&B, helped us get replacement passport, tickets etc. and after showed us round the tourist spots, some great buskers, and put us up for the night for nothing! We left the next day at the same time, best day trip ever. Many thanks!
A place is as good as the people you meet.

I love London! It's so diverse and there is so much to do. The tube is so easy. There is always a good band playing somewhere or a good show to see in the West End. Fantastic places to eat all types of food. I don't think I will ever get tired of it. The museum are great too.

I like parts of London, like the stretch along the Thames with the Globe and the Tate modern. That's nice.
I don't like the grimy 'city' bits of it, but then I'm a bit of a country lass, so that figures. I guess I don't like the hustle and over-crowdedness. But I can appreciate it's cultural and national importance.
