The largest alligator ever recorded measured 19 feet 2 inches (5.8 meters) and was found on Marsh Island, Louisiana.
According to the Everglades National Park website, the largest alligator ever recorded in Florida was 17 feet 5 inches long (5.3 meters).

Swampy the Giant is the largest alligator in the world right now, measuring in at 50 feet long... oh wait, he's made of stucco.
Millions of years ago, however they did attain these sizes, but that was millions of years ago, and the paleontologists don't call them alligators.

For many years, Kissimmee's giant gator, in the parking lot next to the Gator Motel, reigned as the World's Largest. Its 126 feet of reptilian eyecandy yanked family vanloads out of the tourist trap river that flowed along Hwy. 192 into Disney. We stayed at the motel, fitfully enjoying the all-night bellows from the adjacent gator pit at Alligatorland Safari Zoo.

but now.... 20ft long means the croc has lived more than 80yrs.
kind of hard to find crocs living at such a age since humans are hunting them for their hides....
20ft ? its plausible. but its extremely rare, the possibility of it appearing again, is very small although the math proves that its a non-zero possiblity of it appearing again.

1920's allmost all were hunted out for their skins now the state record for Louisiana is 12 ft and few inches all 12 footers are recorded a few a year.
