Because people today are lazier and stupider than they were 20 years ago, so they have to feed off of other people's ideas and do remakes of movies and TV shows so they can capitalize on the nostalgia factor without having to do any creative work.

Because Horror movies are supossed to attract the teenage audience. Teenagers love horror flicks, but won't watch the ones from our generation. They think the old classics are lame. Producers are starting to remake the best classics so that they will have a new generation of great hooror films for the teens to watch.

However, I don't think they should remake them. The actors are what made the movies in the first place. Take Halloween for instance, it just won't be right without Jamie Lee Curtis. She is what made that film and all the sequals such great movies!! I think the original TCM and The Hills Have Eyes are better than the new ones. Because they are updated, the storyline for that era was changed to fit the new generation. Cell phones should not be added to a classic horror film!! What were they thinking???!!!!

You have to fish where the fishin is good. Hollywood will fish the pond until it is fished-out. However, there is nothing wrong with remakes. It makes for the debate which film was better, had better film point of view, acting, etc. The arguement that the public or producers are lazier or dumber just does not fit. To stretch a point, since Hamlet was performed in the round four hundred years ago, a current production would be out of the question. What a shame that would be.

There are lots of remakes for many reasons.

1. Money. If it will bring in the big bucks at the box office then they will do it even if it has been done a million times.

2. Special effects have advanced greatly and so there are things you can do in remakes that they could never do in the orignal.

3. To tell the story from a different angle.

People like seeing the same thing done over & over. That's why this same question gets asked over & over ;-) It's easier to ask 'the why do remakes question' every 5 minutes than it is to think up an original question. Hollywood is just as lazy as you and others on here are who repeatedly ask the exact same question all day long instead of just seeing what the answers were on the same question somebody else asked only minutes earlier. Even though it's the same movie (or the same question) it just FEELS NEW to repeat it over & over... good day to ya! :-)

Well in all honesty, I think that hollywood has run out of original concepts. If you realize, most movies that come out are remakes of other older movies, the difference is that they improve on the filming and quality of the movie.

Unfortunately, Hollywood has a fair share of people who would rather make a quick buck than do something original and creative.

yeah they're running out of material. you might say all the good ideas are taken. As more material comes out, it gets
harder to be original.
