Yeah, Green Day are working hard for the follow up of american idiot, they ve got 3 albums worth,thats sooo great!!
They are also suuch a good band for the community,they just did "saints are coming" to help katrina victims, and now they are covering a John Lennon song for a charity album that will help peverty stricken Darfur (Sudan)
I also ha te it when people say that they are turning emo, being socially concerned isnt being emo, its great to be able to play such different genres of music. And now also, they have grown up got kids, marriage responisbilities, I mean comeon! who would want their kids listening to their dad talking about sex booze blood and gore!?
Just compare 39/slappy and Warning see how much they have matured. Its only kids who hav never growed up that say they never ever was punk!! Now wearing eyeliners is being emo, what has the world got into. The story behind it is-, when they were recording AMERICAN IDIOT, they said to themselves-
"right, us wearing normal day punk clothes arent getting us nowhere, we want to look smart and also stylish like other bands but then also we want to have something that symbolises us", so they came up with the red and black and the mascara thing! I think that is brilliant!
And also kids think wearing drainpipes isnt punk. Well hello you UNPUNK little teeny boppers, look at what Johnny Rotten is wearing- a pair of drainpipes!!

green day is the punkest thing i know......and i dont care if people say crap about american idiot....true, they're not singing about blood sex & booze anymore, but i think it's that they've grown and matured, and so has their music. things are going on in the world now that needs to be reconized, people cant have their heads in the sand. and w/ GD's most recent album, it kinda spoke up and let people turn on their minds and say "yea, i didnt really realize all these thing but now im realizing that the world ain't perfect....fcuk!!!"
old green day was good, i'm a big fan who's first CD was, in fact, american idiot, but in the past year has worked their way backwards with international superhits, then 39/slappy, nimrod, kerplunk.....and so on. now i have all but shennagains.
and really, if u listen to each one, they sound just a bit older and more grown up. seriously, compare 39/slappy to Warning, both great albums, two different sounds.
why do people say they're emo now? because people who started getting into rock by the new milinium (2000+) gradually forgot what being punk is all about, and now calkling anyone who wears black emo. now, wearing eyeliner IS new for our boys of green day, and maybe it's a sign of them giving in a bit b/c alot of big (and somewhat poser) bands are doing it. and that made me feel a bit uneasy......the world ends when greenday gives up and joins what's "in".
but no matter what, green day will always be the crazy, fun-loving, masturbating, hyper punks that are irreplaceable.
soooo sorry this is so long, i've never written an answer so big! but just one more thing.....
everyone knows one green day song or another, even if they dont know it's green day. i remember when i was 10, and i heard that song @ my 5th grade graduation, it made me cry (Good Riddance aka Time of Your Life), and for 3 years or so after that day, i could not listen to it cuz it made me cry! and i remember one time on the radio it came on and my mom was all "oh, this guy has a good voice, but u wouldn't really like his music.....too rocker for my sweet daughter" (hey gimmie a break i was 11 back then!) and i heard it on FUSE a month after my friend intorduced me to american idiot's "Holiday" which kick-started my newest fettish into a full-blown obsession-like love. Green Day's been with me ever since.
Have u joined GDA? it's awesome and free! almost better than the idiot club, and u dont have to pay $20 a year for it either! LOL!

I love green day! I like all of it, old and new. Not to mension Billie, mike and Tre are talented and cute. I love that they dont care what people think about them, and F*CK GEORGE BUSH!

I used to be a HUGE fan of green day and im not anymore, i still like there music i just dont listen to it everyday. They call them emo becuase how they dress and there type of singing. They have emotion sining about emotion so its emo but w.e. Ummmm I like billy talent more. BEcuase i like there type of music more. I like the more louder screaming. I also my MCR, Manson...
