Yes the problems are both parties. But it's the fault of the American people, especially those who do not vote. I think it's something like only 50% of the voter population (maybe not even that much) that votes in elections.
They're to busy sitting in front of the TV voting for American Idol.

The trouble with this country isn't either party as much as it is personal responsibility. We accept no personal reponsiblility. We want to drive big gas guzzling vehicles but not have to pay for the gas! Instead of driving fuel economy cars we insist on the bigger ones. We have a dozen credit cards maxed out even tho we KNOW what happens when you do this and get into trouble, but it doesn't stop us. We buy cars and houses that we know we can't afford as they will take every penny we make for payments knowing if we run into trouble we're sunk. We do all kinds of these things and then blame it on the goverment and expect them to bail us out! The rich and powerful are making it hard on us but they've always been around.

I think that is a stretch. There certainly are wealthy and powerful democrats but not to the same extent. They don't have the same backing as the republicans and aren't driven by the same incentives (big business being one of them). In 100 hours, the top five oil companies will take in $4.3 billion in profits and the top ten pharmaceutical companies will gain $2.6 billion in profits and the top CEOs will earn an average of $2 million each. I don't think the democratic party has anything that compares to that....

You are right about the fact that people who have money are the ones beginning running our country now...which is a sad state of affairs.
The whole point of a government > of the people and for the people < was to have your peers in a power position to get the things done tha the majority of the population needed to have done.
Now if you are poor, even middle class, you are not being heard. Voters need to be very aware and not be drawn in by expensive commercials and politcals ploys of the rich.
There needs to be time and spending limits on campaigns in America....the money spent on campaign races is rididcules and it could be used to help those in need in our own back yard.

Demoncats want you to believe the Republicans are the rich and powerful, but actually some of the richest politicians are demoncats. Check it out!
Look at Edwards new multi-million dollar home. Look at Feinsteins wealth including the money her husband got from the military contracts. The list goes on.

It wouldnt be so bad if they had some solutions. The dems want out of Iraq now just to win the white house, while the Republicans want to stay just to avoid seeming wrong. They are all creating confusion so bad that I think the power shift may lean to third party candidates in 08.

we need two basic things in our govt to take it back from professional politicians/criminals.
1. get big money out of govt. the ONLY way to do this is to put both CORRUPT POLITICIANS AND BUSINESS LEADERS IN PRISON FOR VIOLATING THE LAW.
2. term limits - we need an end to the professional politicians pretending that they are american royalty.
that would be a good start - the next step would be to make politicians work 4--60 hours a week, with a two week vacation - just like the rest of us get...

Skip G is half right.
The real problem is Both parties and their stranglehold on the political process with big business and other special interests
pulling their strings.
What do we do? Kick out the lobbyists from DC. Vote for alternative parties, or for Independents.
