Why do men have to put up with discrimation that is no longer acceptable for other groups in society?

If one was to say "all black people are [something offensive]" or "all [insert nationality] are [something offensive]", then this would be unacceptable.

One UK Police force said last year that they wouldn't accept job applications from white men. If they had said, for example, 'Welsh women', there would have been an outcry. But discrimination against men is OK?

So why is is that it's OK to show adverts depicting men as ignorant, showing men being harmed, etc? And why do some think it's ok to insult half the population of the planet just because of their gender, something that one cannot choose before birth?

Makes me frustrated...

I understand your anger and frustration. It is NOT Ok to behave in the manner you depicted towards anyone, regardless of ethnic background, religious afflilation, or sex. You know darn well it is not OK to behave towards men in this way as it is to behave this way towards any other group. I am shocked that a government body would announce jobs are not available for white men. This is outragous, and I personally think you should start the outcry about it yourself.

Somebody always has to be the one to begin a campain. If you see something you feel very strongly about, why not take steps to bring it to light, to stop it? It takes just one person to begin an outcry, why not you?

This IS outragous, and somebody needs to stand up and DO something about it. Read up on law in your country and begin there. It HAS to be against the law to discriminate against whilte men the same as it is against the law to discriminate against other groups. There has to be some law on the books where you live regarding this. Find out where the law stands and then contact the proper people to begin actions. You could even contact lawers to find one who will take this up and stop this behavior. I am sure there are rules or laws which forbid such actions on the part of any business or government body. Here in the U.S. we have laws regarding equal opportunity and they apply to everyone, not just select groups. Such a notice would not go unpunished in this country. Nobody can select one group for exclusion here. If there are not currently any laws or rules then find out how to contact the proper people who represent you and write letters, get others to write letters, start a name gathering campaign, but DO something. If you don't, who will?

Good luck and I hope you stand up for what you believe is an injustice, which I agree whole heartedly it is. It can be very empowering to do something, anything, even write a letter to an editor about an issue you feel strongly about. It helps free the frustraton and give the anger an outlet when you take even a small step to make it known how wrong this is. Writing here to Answers is a first step, now take the next, then the next, and you may be surprised how much support you get and how far it can go!

To Pat M, if you believe smokers are the people most discriminated against, you are clueless what discrimination is and what it does to those who it is aimed at. It is sad a person would actually write that they think the most injured group by discrimination are smokers. Come on, that is rediculous!

You just get to see the glory of 'white men' being the worst demograph to belong to statistically/legally, as if you even look at anyone else funny they can sue you or get you arrested.

It's partly the insane PC culture and the whole idea that today's people should pay for the actions of someone long since deceased.

My advice........burn your underwear, tie yourself to the railings outside downing street, wear a veil, tell everyone your forefathers were slaves to the system, scream prejudice at every opportunity, sign on the dole, get a foreign passport and ask for housing and money, announce that you are vertically challenged, tell everyone you speak to that you 'no understand', get a tan, get a sex change so you get cheaper car insurance, buy a house-get married-have kids-get divorced-and lose the lot, pay the CSA forever, work your entire life just to find out there isn't enough for your pension.

Best advice is just to laugh at it all mate, we've lost this one!

Good luck to you.

The world revolves around men, and men should be more aware of this fact.

womens freedom in the west really only happens because of men letting it, for what would happen if all the men in society downed tools for just one week? our society would soon begin to crumble and collapse.

It's because Political Correctness has got into our government and PC only leaves out one social group - the heterosexual white male. PC even considers women to be a "minority" group.

What you say has some truth to it.
As women become more and more powerful, men are suffering. If you feel you have been discriminated against then youre going to have to fight for your right.......just like women had to.....just like the blacks had to and just like the gays have to. Just be grateful youve never had to before now.

honey, relax. This is what has plagued the other half of the gender population for centuries except in our case, we really were thought to be and treated as second class slave citizens, unable to vote, nonexistent without a male partner, intellectually equivalent to children, tied to a life of domestic imprisonment and forced to indulge the wishes of our master=men. We survived and each day we live to fight more battles till the societal female inequalities are abolished.
Now what were you complaining of in this patiarchial society we live in? Male bashing?
I thought you could use some perspective here

It is todays way that all strong majorities are wrong and we now have to listen to all minorities and do what they want as not to hurt there feelings. Some call it evolution , others tell the truth.....

They are just pompous.
I don't like how "some" men act.
There are some nice ones out there, I just know it.

That type of anti-man attitude usually has a bit of history behind it.

But try not to involve race in every kind of political discussion. Makes you seem like a b@stard.
