Spot on Alex - it was indeed the Chinese, who invented (discovered?) gunpowder.

The chinese were the first to develop and use gunpowder in warfare. However, it was the Europeans that took that technology and ran with it. It wasn't long before European cannons and personal fire arms were far superior to elsewhere in the world.

the chinese did invent the gunpower, but as far as i know did not use it for warfare untill it was imported back to them by the europeans. the chinese used gunpoweder mostly for fireworks. there are some who believe that they also used it in the form of missisles but i dont think there is evidence to back it up.
the europeans were the first to use it in warfare.. as always we rule cause frankly we are agressive savages.
