That didn't work in the 60's and 70's (Korea and Vietnam). Or even in the 40's (Israel / Palestine) or 50's and 80's (various African nations). What makes you think it'll work now?

The Kurdish region is the only area of Iraq that has relative peace right now. Why mess that up? They seem to be the only people who can get along long enough to run their government. Perhaps we should relocate all the Muslims and give the whole country to the Kurds. Hey, that makes as much sense as your idea.

Problem is, the majority of the oil is in the northern kurdish region, and that would not be fair to the southern iraqi people.
