I find it offensive/hurtful that our LGBT relationships are not deemed by Yahoo Answers to be 'family' or even about 'relationships'.

Instead we are put under 'culture and groups' as though we should be marginalised. As though we belong to some little evening club. As though we were a side-show to 'real' family relationships.

Jack - you're right.

We don't really have that much in common and yet we're lumped in a separate group from the rest of society. I'm not G, B or T but I know that we have the fact that we have relationships in common - as we do with people who are heterosexual.

It's a sub-culture. It deals with more than family and relationships as well. There are a number of issues that are endemic to the GLBT community.

If anything one should be upset that it's not GLBTS, with S being straight, thus lumping everyone into a more normal spectrum. Basically the S isn't seperate, it's part of the whole spectrum.

Well, gays call themselves the "gay community."

We could all be pissed about something. I find the whole "LGBT" thing offensive. I am a gay man and once in a blue moon I get with a woman. So I am definitely part of the "G" and sometimes "B." But I am not "L" obviously, and as for "T," that has NOTHING to do with my life. I am in no way trans-ANYTHING.

Now they are sticking "Q" in there sometimes. Soon, we'll be the "GLBTQACDEFHIJKMNOPRSTUVWXYZ" community, I guess.

So I could be all pissed that I'm being lumped into a "community" which I don't necessarily identify with. But it's all good. I won't waste my time being bItchy.

Gays + politics = much screaming.

Love Jack

Because you're not as mainstream as many might believe; i.e. +/- 4 % of the population , not 10% , or higher, as widely believed, and pushed by those who have a vested interest in promoting acceptance of this behavior.

Not all GLBT issues involve marriage and family. There are health concerns--they should be under medical--maybe.

GLBT section is a catch all for all GLBT issues.
