I sometimes think that I could have a better vocabulary, or know more about interesting books, or politics or just things. I even wish I was more quick witted with a real good comeback sometimes.

I could see where that would work if my desire was to be something that was empty in meaning. But its not. I dont wish to change who I am but just to become more of something that I admire.

Getting up in the morning and entering life wouldn't be an adventure if we had all the answers at once. Life is a growth process, trial and error. Pain from failure is a growth stimulus. In fact, the person who is not afraid of failure meets with success.

With the possibility of growth, life has potential. Looking at experiences with the realization that you don't know it all, but have the willingness to learn something new everyday is at its very least an exciting proposition.

These desires are the root of your suffering.

I'm not trying to be "negative", but you raised the idea that you are unhappy with who you are. I'm hinting that fulfilling those needs isn't the answer. Realizing the root of the desire is the answer.

I pray for knowledge, but most of all wisdom, how to "use" the knowledge to Glorify God.

Knowledge is fleeting, and all is vanity, as we are only on this old earth for a very short time, I pray I have wisdom on how to apply my life for the Glory of God to help others be with Him for eternity.
