IT depends on the position, Salaried persons are not required to be paid overtime generally, however if the salaried person does more than a certain percentage of work in a particular department they can be paid 1/2 time rather than the normal time and 1/2 an hourly person would be paid.

I doubt it. Salaried employees are overtime exempt. Comp time may be issued in some cases, but OT is not required to be paid to salary folks. Those people are considered "professionals" and the rules are different for them.

The first person may be correct that overtime isn't required for salaried employees, but if you were promised something and weren't paid, you should be entitled. Hopefully it is in writing. I would first try contacting the U.S. Department of Labor and see if they can help.
