like all the poor European immigrants that help build this nations economy and social structure during the industrial revolution
I always here that the blacks or the latinos built this nation,,,I'm not saying they didn't contribute, but where does this notion come from that white people just sat back while the other people did all the work
The latino immigrants of today act as if they are being mistreated and not valued for what they contribute, but I don't see them aknowledging that white immigrants of the past contributed to this country which they all wish to now benifit from,, they seem to take all the credit,,, why can't people just realize that every demographic has shed a fair amount of blood and tears for thiss country and stop all the BS,,, i find these ultra-liberal pro immgration claims at imigration rallies rather rude and racist,,towards whites,,, ,anyone else agree,,disagree

Ahh, man! Those minorities are beneath you and me. Throw them a bone will ya?
It's clear that they need special treatment.

Yes, I agree. Blacks are still complaining about what happened in another century and are supported. If I complain about something Clinton did, then I'm told to get over it.
Latinos have no reason whatsoever to *****. But if I say something about illegal immigrants then I hear about how the country was built by immigrants.
c. 1815-1860----5 million immigrants settled permanently in the United States, mainly English, Irish, Germanic, Scandinavian, and others from northwestern Europe
c. 1865-1890----10 million immigrants settled permanently in America, again mainly from northwestern Europe
c. 1890-1914----15 million immigrants journeyed to the United States, many of whom were Austro-Hungarian, Turkish, Lithuanian, Russian, Jewish, Greek, Italian, Romanian
Do I see Mexican there anywhere? Africa? No.
EDIT: Wow Etienne! I've asked this same question: I wonder who would have benefited if there were no slave trade? Modern Afro-Americans would not have. Great post!

It is a question of short cuts.
Traditionally, immigrants from varied ethnic backgrounds came to America to find opportunity and freedom. The brought their culture with them but understood very clearly that assimilation into the evolving culture of America would be required.
Being an immigrant was a very tough proposition, to survive and to actually make it to citizenship.
Today, "immigrants" feel that there is no necessity to assimilate into the culture that is America today nor do they believe it is necessary to become an American at all.
They want, and in many cases get, all the benefits of citizenship without the obligation and duty to become citizens.
It is short cut immigration and unfortunately, our politicians have created this atmosphere. Conservatives in that they give a long leash to business to hire illegals and liberals in that they know that eventually these illegals will be votors that will support the liberals.
Both positions are very bad for our country as a culture, as regards our economy and for the impact it will eventually have politically.
I see bad results in all areas due to our failure to enforce our immigration laws.

I agree with you in some ways. Many different cultures have greatly contributed to this nation of ours. Language, food, knowledge, ideas, growth, creativeness, etc. I don't go to immigration rallies so I don't know about the negativity. I think we're all doing ok as a nation. There is good and bad all over the world. And the US is pretty darn good. Consider why so many people have made the US home over so many years!

These days "Political Correctness" demands that all the problems in the world were and are caused by whites. So nothing they ever did has had any good effect on todays so called minorities. Just take a look sometime at the B.S. being taught in black studies courses at many universities. According to them white people in the past accomplished very little and even that was all bad.

well, I do
White people are responsible for the modern world as we see it today. without Renaissance, Enlightenment, and the Industrial revolution. We'd all still be living in feudalistic societies.
But, you should also understand why non-whites resent whites. European imperialism instilled incredible pains and sufferings on other countries and people throughout history. It's gonna take a long time to forget.

I agree, it's always "blame the white man." But if it wasn't for the white man this great country would be like a 3rd world country like, say...Mehico or the rest of Latin America. The only civilized parts of the western hemisphere are US & Canada (white people). Look at the rest of the world too if it wasn't for the "white man" exploring the rest of the world, the rest of the world would still be isolationists and 3rd world.

Well, this, unfortunately, is due to the fact that our culture is extremely hypersensitive towards racism. Take affermative action. Why should minorities be given special treatment over whites? It is unfair, and to an extent, racist. However, we do live in that society in which the KKK are a bunch of racist, red-neck bigots (which they are) and the Black Panthers, they can sit on CNN or FOX and spout their racist remarks as if they were facts. Pretty sad.

Because claiming victimization always works. You don't see anyone demanding apologies for slavery admitting it was the muslims in Africa who sold the slaves to Europeans for trade goods in the first place, do you? They also don't seem very concerned about the continued existance of slavery in the world today, when it's just as wrong now as it ever was.
Can't you just see someone trying to organize a riot by angry white males about our continual victimization, limitations of free speech, discrimination against in applying for government jobs, college, loans, grants, etc.? ("No- not monday, that's rotary night, tuesday is kiwanis, wednesday is golf, thursday is masonic lodge, friday night is happy hour...") They'd have to hire professional rioters from Paris, Chicago or LA or some place, for instructors in looting, car burning, etc. And then they'd have to hire a legal consultant in case anyone got hurt or sued.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. My ancestors came from across the ocean and busted their butts to help make this country what it is today.
The Latinos and Blacks need to shut up already. They think they have it bad. What about the Native American Indians? They're pretty much forced to live on reservations in poverty conditions.
The Latinos and Blacks are more racist than any White person ever thought of being.

People of "ethnicity" just don't like us white people. They don't care about Albert Einstein or Wernher Von Braun... Though George Washington Carver was a good inventor... It's just they feel independent. If all the white people leave, there would be nothing.
