No, most sites with that info are pay sites, the two coin papers, Coin World and Numismatic News have one. Best bet buy a Red Book a Guide to U.S. Coins. It has history and a guide to grading each series as well as where the mint marks are. The prices are retail and most dealer sell below what they are, but they are at least a guide to value. Most sites are out to sell you some coins and only give limited info or what is needed to sell that coin. One good think about a book it can go with you easily. Cost $14.95 and up as per what one you get. The spiral edition is a good one for the pages stay open.

Gold is a good hedge tool to use... its not a good market for the coins but is a great market for the gold... in these times our investments are not too hot... so people use the gold as a way of off setting a big loss or to add alittle to the gains... but either way you will still gain on gold... all the way back from the 1960s gold has had a constant gain... Plus if you buy gold it is something that you can store and hold without having to pay taxes on it... other investments you make a gain on it you have to pay taxes on the gains each yr you have it... and gold you dont... the con: at times gold can be harder to turn into cash so if you need that money I would tell you not to invest it for short term usage...just something to think about...
