Why do people ask questions they've already concluded?
The obvious answer; they're stupid

People carry guns for many reasons, home protection being one of them. If you think that they are paranoid why don't you look up some stats on burgluries or homicides in the US. I don't own a gun and I live in a violent city, I have 4 pretty daughters and a 10 yr old son, I ask you this. Would I be paranoid for wanting to protect them?

that's an over generalization that's depending on the conception that if one American family individuals does it, then all ought to. that's defective good judgment... With that stated, even as i do not fairly 'like' guns, I see them as being secure via our structure and in certain parts of the country, almost a need. In large cities and the suburbs surrounding huge cities, I agree - guns fairly haven't any position in a house except to furnish convenience to the vendors. They modern a verifiable threat, definite, which contain the tale you talked about above. in spite of the actuality that, in maximum aspects of my state (I stay in IL), police are both absent or fairly less than-funded and for that reason unable to effectively wrestle all situations of crime. In rural parts of this u . s ., that's almost a need to own a firearm as a way to no longer in simple terms protect adversarial to criminals yet to guard ones farm animals and/or plants besides from predatory animals. and not using a compulsory change in our gadget of taxation, guns will probable stay oftentimes happening in such parts.

I keep guns because I enjoy shooting at the range, out in the country, etc. I am also glad to know that I can protect myself if anyone were to try to hurt me or my family in my home.
I'm not paranoid. I don't think I will ever have to use my guns for self-defense, but I will have them if needed.
Why does it bother you?

Well, a lot of us like to hunt, you know. Even those of us who don't especially like hunting still like to target practice (shooting at bottles on top of a rock, and things like that). We don't keep guns at home because we think we need them for protection, especially. They're usually kept for pleasure and entertainment. Protection is just a minor afterthought. There's also a certain element of traditionalism involved.

It is our God given right. People have fought and died for our
right to do this. I wonder what our forefathers would think of America and what we as Americans have done with the gift they fought and died for.
