My house is frame construction 12 years old in excellent condition except I am going to need a new roof soon and I like tile better than shingles. What are the requirements for support. Is this possible?

Tile comes in a variety of colours and are made from various materials. If your roof is strong enough to support slate or cement tiles than go ahead they will last forever. If your roof is average you can use the tiles made from plastic, very lite and last a very long time plus makes your roof look great

You would need a Structural Engineer to decide if it is possible. Doubtful that the current roof rafters were sized to carry the load of tiles.

that's fairly helpful to envision the recent varieties of metallic roofing. They make one that sounds like tile. even have them that appear as if slate and different supplies. this does not require extra advantageous helps to be put in.

use metal roof instead... lasts longer, less repairs, looks better and sustains wind/storms way better than tile. Also you don't need additional supports.
