This was in the paper yesterday (Associated Press) "The corroded and corrupt state of Saddam was replaced by the corroded, inefficient, incompetent and corrupt state of the new order," Ali A. Allawi concludes in "The Occupation of Iraq," newly published by Yale University Press.
Allawi writes with authority as a member of that "new order," having served as Iraq's trade, defense and finance minister at various times since 2003. As a former academic, at Oxford University before the U.S.-British invasion of Iraq, he also writes with unusual detachment."
But I'm sure some of the conservatives will still think we belong there.

I have always been a Bush supporter. BUt for the past month or so I've been having doubts about him and why he continues to keep our troops over there. Overall, i think he's a pretty good president, but he is definitely hard headed. As sad as I am that we can't finish the job we are there to do. I think we need to leave. And unfortunately, we will probably be back in another 10-11 years.

They spoke in one voice and they spoke to you? And 1million speaks for 12 million?
What's clear to me is that Iraq has not been able to govern itself without allowing terrorists to rule. I see this occupation as a last step before nuclear disaster.
Remember how Truman ended a war that wouldn't?
EDIT: The Iraqis couldn't have done this 4 years ago!!!!!!

It's grown from 10,000 to over 1 million in the matter of minutes WOW!!!! and their population has deminished from being 26,783,383 to 12 million in less than a year... Amazing.
and even if it were 1 million out of 12 million, still that's not the majority of Iraqi's, Do you people understand how the voting process goes, if they were to vote on the issue and 1 million people voted to remove our soldiers and the other 11 million voted to keep us there...
We would stay because Majority rules...
But now I understand why Democrats thought they won the last 2 elections that Bush got elected... You all can't add!!!!

neomoron, what part of the definition of the word occupation confuses you? Why would an occupier allow elections?
Even the most liberal polls show that majority of the Iraqi people are grateful for their liberation.
Keep spreading your partisan lies. You've been doing it blindly for so long, you have no grip on reality. You have ignored every shred of evidence that shows you are wrong on the subject from day one.
Keep living in your ignorant wonderland, where America protects your right to hate it.

1) We are not imperialist you need to look up that defination.
2) I didn't know Iraq was rule by how many you can get out to protest.
What is clear to me if we don't have a stable government before we leave it will come back to haunt us.
If you are willing to accept that along with all the democrats that there will be no terrorist attack on the US or US assests if we pull out now.
I will support the measure to pull out now.

Yet that government which is recognized by the international community is still asking the US to stay.
So the Government isn't doing what the people want, hmmm reminds me of another country.
Maybe Iraq does have a democracy now but Bushco style where the government doesn't listen when the people speak.

That was a rally organized by a terrorist that called for the deaths of U.S. soldiers, just like Dems in the House and Senate by trying to pass legislation to cut off funding for troops.
Let's turn al-Sadr and his backers into hamburger meat before we leave.

Our country has made a mess in Iraq and though it is important that we leave it has to be done in stages slowly
(we have to clean up our mess).
The government we leave behind although not perfect will need to be strong enough to handle itself in a crises.
and it needs the trust of its people.
