Why does using the words "nappy headed ho" apply to black people in some way? Couldn't there be "nappy headed hos" in Asia, Alaska, Greece, and Romania?

It wasn't any different from anything you'd hear in a rap "tune".

if Imus had stated the top comparable ingredient approximately white women persons, this does not have been a blip on the radar. the issue is that there are human beings available waiting for the possibility to be indignant via any assertion and that they are large at smelling blood at which factor, they start circling. The assertion replaced into incorrect and the girls have been due an apology which i think of imus could have written in his very own hand and mailed to them or completed in person - not a public apology on air. something of the folk 'indignant' would desire to alter the channel. Imus offends maximum persons a minimum of particularly some the time, this is his job. in my opinion, i'm hoping he gets a job on satellite tv for pc radio and lives invariably there.

No......it was defiantly a not cool thing to say. Imus says alot of things before his brains engaged though. It's not excusing him....but I agree with the one poster who said if it's really that offensive....then why do so many blacks use those terms themselves? If it's offensive then it's wrong for anyone to say it. I know Sharpton and them want him totally ruined because of all this.......going a bit to far since they are hardly stellar people themselves. I wonder how they would like it if we got all up in arms every time we hear something racial and offensive.

Hip Hop and Rap music use this language as lyrics all the time and is usually sung by blacks. Whites are not allowed those kinds of comments agreeably. Maybe these comments/lyrics shouldn't be used by anybody in any context. I haven't heard the gals on the basketball team make any comment at all. That is who I think should be voicing their opinion about Imus's remarks.

Because he wasn't referring to the 'Romanian' Women's Basketball team genius! He was making reference to a predominately black women's team from NJ.

And for those that seem to think its no big deal, ask yourself: If Imus was in a room with a black woman, do you think that remark would've even come out of his mouth? Probably not, because most racists are notoriously cowardly.

I think it was a racial slur, though probably it was not intended that way. I guess Imus was trying to be funny or "cool" and proved he is a fool.
I would say that Paris and Britney are definitely hos.

White sluts are not usually called "hos." They're usually called "Paris" and "Britney" and "Lindsay" and so on.

And Reggie Jackson? The Baseball Hall-of-Famer? I haven't seen him comment on this. You're probably thinking of Jesse Jackson. But then, Imus wasn't thinking at all.

Did you listen to his remarks? If so then you wouldn't need to have asked this question. Since he was discussing a team of women and they happened to be black it is easy to see how he tied in his racial comments . Imus is a bigot.

Come on! What does he have to do spell out the N-word? I don't think he is referring to Greeks or Romanians when he says nappy-headed hos.

Mr. Imus has admitted that he was wrong. So why do you persist in defending something he said when he has already decided it was not defensible?

He said something he admits was wrong. That doesn't make it right. He has apogized for it. It is up to those he offended to decide if they wish to accept his apology or not.

But don't try to say it was right. He has already run away from it.

as long as people like you live in this country, there will be racism. Ask Imus. He admits he was wrong.
