I am taking him to the doc in the morning, in the mean time....to take some of the pain away, is it safe or have u ever used pure witch hazel to help out with the pain?? If so How did you apply and what are the side effects??? THANK YOU! He is 17mths old and can't even walk or crawl or stand due to the pain.....even with tylonal and ibuprofin

Sounds to me like your baby may have a very serious yeast infection. do NOT put the witch hazel on it, as it will make it much much worse. babies with yeast infections also cannot use desitin, or a+d ointment, as these will also make it much worse. my 6 month old son got a yeast infection at 2 months and we put desitin on it because i didnt know of the effects. it made it much worse and red, bleeding, and seeping. it was AWFUL! when you go to the doctor tell him that you need a prescription for a butt cream called CLOTRIMAZOLE USP 1%. MY SONS DOCTOR GAVE THIS TO US TO USE, AND WE STILL DONT EVEN USE DESITIN OR ANY OTHER CREAM BECAUSE IT IS SO AMAZING! if he wakes up with a butt rash, we put it on him, and by the next diaper change, it is all gone. HOPE THIS HELPS UR LITTLE GUY!

The cause of diaper rash is diapers! When I worked in Haiti, I saw children with horrible diseases but rarely diaper rash, because the kids didn't wear any.

Not wearing diapers is obviously not practical in our circumstances. However, keeping your infant as clean and dry as possible will go a long way in curing your infant. You do have to clean him frequently with an antibacterial soap. Rinse well. Pat dry. Clean him up as soon as he stools.

A light application of clotrimazole works well for yeast infections, but since yeast thrive in a warm, moist, dark environment, air and light exposure help.

Some mothers and pediatric nurses dab Maalox on the buttocks to relieve pain.

Go to Wal-Mart, theres such a thing as Boudreaux's Butt Paste. It's a very good rash cream.
I dont think i would put the Wtich Hazel on it... as it could make it worse or cause more pain and irritation.
