The skin on your face is probably just more sensitive than that on your body. I don't use any tanning lotion whatsoever on my face when I tan and I don't have a problem with it burning. I would discontinue using the lotion on your face; if that doesn't help, try covering your face with a towel at least part of the time that you are tanning. As far as what is a good tanning lotion, I have used a lot of different kinds and I reccommend anything from Designer Skin, pricey but worth it if you want a good tan!

I use a light face lotion that has a SPF in it. I put a little on in the morning and usually tan in the late evening. The face tends to become more red but it does fade into a nice tan.

Happy Tanning!

A low spf sun tan lotion for your body (a 4 or an 8) and a higher one for your face (a 10 maybe) your face gets more natural sun anyway

that means that your face is more sensitive. did you use the oil lotion? I used to use a oil lotion (very expensive) and my whole body would get red, then would slowly look like a tan. use a different lotion for your face. On a word of advice, try to cover your face from tanning, cause indoor tanning can cause cancer, but in your face it speeds the formation of dark pigments in your face (brown spots that are considered to be from older women) and wrinkles.

You usually have your skin covered by makeup (if you wear makeup) so it isn't exposed to the sun naturally as is the rest of your body. Secondly, your facial skin is more delicate and sensitive, even moreso if you exfoliate your face regularly.
This could explain the sensitivity.
I would avoid tanning your face. It is recommended that you use sunscreen (think of the wrinkles! ) even when in a tanning bed!

Good luck !: )
