I agree with you - he's a relic of another time and he's got to go. He's obviously the type of person that uses the "n" word in private and likes to tell racist jokes to all his rich white friends. What he said was so far out of line, it's unbelievable. I think he should resign. The other guy who called the team members "hos" before Imus should also resign. Why would you call basketball team members "hos"???? Misogyny???
BTW, I am white (if it matters).
Thanks for the good question!!! :)

i never cared what Imus thought about the girls Rutgers basketball team before this and i don't care what he thinks now, nobody should. all of you who are taking offense to his comments need to chill out and not worry about the opinions or jokes of someone that means nothing to you. if Dave Chapelle (who i am a fan of) were to say those same words during his stand up not a single person would protest for him to retire from comedy. the point is: WHY SHOULD WE CARE? let people say what they want and if you don't like it then ignore them, its not that hard and it makes life a lot more enjoyable because you're not concerning yourself with insignificant BS. we DO live in a country that has free speech and like it or not that includes speech that we might not want to hear, but just like when the KKK is spreading their garbage the wiser of us pay no attention to it. and on the odd chance that someones kids were watching Imus when he said that then all you have to do is a little freaking parenting and explain to your kids why its important to respect others and they will probably listen. those who preach tolerance need to tolerate intolerance.

As a white woman, I have to say "No." The man has been on the air for decades and to insult teenage girls like that is inexcusable even for a rookie.
I never thought i would say this in a million years, but for once ( and this will probably be the only time) I actually agree with Al Sharpton.

You do know they say things like that for basically two reasons, Shock value to get others attention and the other is disrespect to other cultures and or people. I too am white and have dated a black woman for 12 years now and I still to this day get the evil eye from those whom see us together.

I don't know what he said, but I've always cringed when he's on because I can just imagine what he'd call me off camera or mic. ("Get off my porch you no-gooder!!" ~ Dave Chapelle) lol
People should always be forgiven. We are more than our words, but our words do so much damage.
You're right. You either think and speak in those terms or you don't.
The power of life and death are in the tongue.

I think Imus is an idiot...for him any publicity is good...I don't think it was a "slip" either. It got him in the news and I can bet that his ratings will go up now.

It's his right to act like a complete idiot, you either forgive him or you don't, I for one refuse to give much if any attention to what he said or will say, but we are in America he has a right to say what he wants as long as he can accept the judgments of others for it.

i think its sad that people actually are schocked when a white guy on tv uses derogatory language towards a group of people that he's not affiliated with
big deal, he called em whatever...but if black guy used some sort of comment like that to decribe white girls, everyone would have a laugh
and you call us racist

While it was a disgusting, and inexcusable remark, we have to remember one thing:
It was done in the context of a show which is all about being stupid, shocking, and outrageous. We need to take a chill pill, and get over it.
