Is there a book I can buy with modern clothing patterns that I can use to trace on fabric and make the clothing myself?

Burda Patterns publishes a magazine called Burda World of Fashion. It's a fashion sewing magazine and in the center if the mag is a bunch of sewing pattern sheets and instructions so you can trace the patterns and make the clothes found in the magazine. Here's a link to this month's issue:

The patterns range from easy to very difficult, and all are very modern and fashion forward.

The wonderful Japanese craft books are rarely if ever translated into English. However, they are always presented with such wonderful diagrams that you don't really need a translation, you can work from them easily. Buy a couple and see if that works for you.
