Jesse Jackson, I am very very sorry to say is not a very nice man. I found some things a few months ago that he had done and lost ... a lifetime of respect for him immediately.
As much as I dislike them, Sharpton and Jackson had their time and place. The fact is, they have solved many of the problems they set out to solve. The racism that existed for their generation does not exist for this one. It is a different shape and form, focusing on a more diverse group of humanity.
Sharpton and Jackson can't effectively communicate with blacks in their mid thirties or younger. They are from a world that doesn't exist anymore. They might as well be from Mars. Jackson rallies are full of Baby Boomer Blacks on their way to retirement, not motivated, fire-breathing, idealistic twenty somethings just waiting to be told what to think. That's what a political movement requires.
Sharpton and Jackson are the classic "lions in winter," looking for one last chase, one last cause, one last great battle to make themselves feel relevant again.

Yes, they are media whores. If they know camera's are going to be somewhere, they will show up. They latch on to anything that has to do with their "blackness" and try to turn it into some kind of discrimination/shakedown conspiracy. Al Sharpton is a racist and for some reason the Dems roll over for the likes of him and Jesse Jackson all the time, treating them like they're all that.
Let's not forget the Tawana Brawly debacle that Al Sharpton to this day refuses to apologize for, even though he slandered many people due to a "hoax".
The only thing these 2 do is pour gasoline on already smoldering embers of racism. They should hang their heads in shame!

Sharpton and Jackson are certainly opportunists but that has little to do with Mr. Imus saying something he should not have said. Imus has apologized and admitted what he said was stupid and untrue. If you are going to say something that insults people and is not true, what do you expect to happen?
He certainly could have made his point without such remarks. So why did he use them? If I made a statement that I thought was true and needed to be said even if it offended people, the closest I would get to an apology is to say I am sorry you are offended but I stand by what I said. That is not what he did. Instead, he said it was wrong. If you say something wrong, face the consequences.

I don't think Imus should grovel. He crossed the line a bit, but people shouldn't be so damned sensitive!

Yep They just want face time on TV.
No one can critize them or you are racist.
If Imus said this about all white team you won't hear a thing.
Or if you hear blacks calling whites crackers won't hear a thing.
or if blacks use the N word won't hear a thing.
Or if blacks gang rape a white woman won't hear a thing.
To me their are two biggest bigots around.
