Since it's for tv guide, and it's only a project, not a real ad, so licensing doesn't come into the picture, why not use a TV character - Spongebob?

Considering that your target market is the homemaker which the highest percentage of them are moms, you should display an adorable toddler extremely filthy, perhaps even a toddler and a puppy full of mud coming into the house from a rainy day or the toddler sharing a treat with the puppy on the kitchen floor with it all over. Make the toddler and the puppy the largest part of the ad and then put a catchy phrase with the sponge package displaying whatever its name and logo are on the package of course. List a catching phrase like
"Need Help?" Name for sponge...'Mamma's Helper', 'Sponge 911', '911 Clean', CleanUp 911...

• Assuming you have between a full page and half page in color to use, I would try the "before and after" approach.
• Show 2 photos of a dirty dish, the second one with the sponge full and the dish clean. It's simple but effective.
• Come up with a clever name for the sponge and put it in the headline. Like "Super-Soaker" or "Sponge-R-Iffic"
• Next, offer a free mini-sample for the first 1000 orders. Include a place to order by phone or online, along with a mail-in coupon. List the benefits of the sponse in the text like colors, absorbency, easy cleaning and you're done.
