Should and will are not the same thing.

Your baby is unique. Should she be crawling? Maybe, but your baby is a different person. Our son crawled for ages before he walked, and then he took off. My sister crawled for 2 days before getting walking. Some kids even skip crawling.

What's important is that your child is MOVING and wanting to move from point A to point B. Try to encourage this movement by putting a favorite toy a few feet away from him.

If your doctor isn't worried, you shouldn't be.

an 11 month old should should be able to do some sort of motoring, like wriggling, rolling, or cruising(like pulling up on the table and walking along it) But it doesn't have to be crawling. Some kids just skip the whole crawling thing altogether and go right to walking, but don't worry if your baby isn't walkin either, most children really don't learn and get going until they are in the 13-15 month range (walking i mean) So as long as your baby is doing something as i mentioned at the top he/she is fine! However if your still concerned then bring it up with the pediatrician and see what he/she says. Good luck!

All babies are different! My daughter was walking at 11 months but I was 13 months before I started moving around and crawling! It doesn't affect development or intelligence - I've been to university, so don't worry too much if they're not yet on the move. Ask the health visitor to check for any potential mobility problems, and if there are none, don't worry any further! Babies do things in their own good time!

Not necessarily. Each baby is different and develops at his/her own pace. Crawling is not generally a milestone listed on most standard development charts. There are many different forms that babies use to get where they want to go. Some scoot around on their bottoms, some "commando" crawl on their tummies pulling themselves along with their arms, some roll, and some don't crawl at all. My youngest daughter was born when her siblings were 18, 15, and 12. She had little need to get herself where she wanted to go when all she had to do was raise up her arms and someone was there to pick her up. She didn't crawl until she was 12 months and didn't walk until 14 months. I have been a child care provider for 20 years. I have seen many forms of mobility. One of my current daycare children turned 1 on March 3. He has only been mobile for about 3 weeks. He crawls with one knee bent in the traditional crawling style while the other leg is straight out and he pushes with his toes. If your baby can sit alone, then it will be only a matter of time before he/she becomes interested in figuring out his/her best way to get from one place to another.

Most babies are crawling well by 11 mos. Is your baby using other ways of moving around? Is s/he pulling up, scooting, creeping, etc? Some babies just aren't interested in crawling. They wait and watch this whole two-legged business and go straight to walking.

Was your baby a preemie? If so, s/he will prob do many things at the age s/he SHOULD be (according to estimated due date) instead of how old s/he actually is now.

Hi, my little girl will be one in three weeks and doesnt crawl either, my health visitor said by the age of 12 months most babies will be trying to get around in some manner whether that be by bottom shuffling, rolling, crawling but all babies are different and my little girl doesnt do any of these things, I like you have also been worried about her too but I'm sure given that little bit more time she will get there. Does your little one make any other attempt to get around? Not all babies crawl some will totally skip out that and go for a different way of moving. If your little one is not making any attempt to get around by the time he/she is 12 month bring it up with your hv to make sure theres no other reason for the delay

Suzanne,
Yes, but not all babies crawl at the same time and some NEVER crawl at all. Our eldest son was so heavy he rolled from one place to another and could never get off of the floor. Eventually he began walking rather than crawling. The other children that we had both crawled but he never did. Every child is different and no two are exactly the same. Even identical twins are different! Take lots of pictures and enjoy every minute that you are able to spend with him/her. They are only this age once! GOD has given you a special gift. Be thankful that your child is a part of your life. Have a great week.
Thanks,
Eds

Babies tend to start crawling at all different ages. The recommendation is that you might want to see a doctor if they are not interested in moving around by their first birthday. Is your baby rolling to get places? If yes, don't worry about crawling, some never do it. Read the info at the link. It should put your mind to rest.

My son was crawling at 7 months and walking at 9 but my nephew didn't start crawling until 10 months and he still isn't walking he's 14 months old. All babies develope differently but the lady who said her baby isn't crawling and he's 18 months old...thats not normal a baby should be running, jumping and climbing on things at 18 months old.
