Is even televisions saying it's a waste of time?

They do. Bart Simpson watches Crusty the Clown and Itchy & Scratchy. Lucy Ricardo watches the Freddy Fillmore Show. The Cunninghams watched Milton Berle, and Ritchie watched Howdy Doody. Archie Bunker watched TV, but I forget what programs. Fred Sanford watched TV. In the movie Close Encounters, he was watching the TV news and saw the Devil's Tower, Dick Van Dyke watched Alan Brady, which he wrote, and there are lots more that don't come to mind right now.

The ones that don't watch have better things to do than to watch television all day.

They DO watch TV, but it is from where the camera is kept usually. They always watch SPORTS. Have you noticed?
