Okay I hear this song played in stores or restaurants sometimes. It's from the 80s. It was a very popular rock/pop song back then. It has flutes and other instruments playing in the song's intro, then later in the song has (I think) a saxophone for the refrain/chorus verses. The lyrics are sung in a soothing voice. One of the lines of the lyrics goes, "Did you think it would be so easy, did you think you'd do it so easy" or something similar, sung right before the saxophone plays the chorus. It's the type of song that brings you back in time to the 80s...what IS this song? I hear it now and then, and my friends and I keep wracking our brains trying to figure out what the song is called!! Also, what band played it? Thanks!

No it's not "Easy" by the Commodores.

It has flute instrumentals playing in the intro...and then later on in the song. The flute has a solo. The most prominent instrument in this song is a saxophone. The song has a somewhat jazzy feel to it, but also a kinda rock feel to it. Think early or mid 80s.

Gerry Rafferty (1978)

Baker Street

Winding your way
Down on Baker Street
Light in your head
And dead on your feet

Well, another crazy day
You drink the night away
And forget about everything

This city desert
Makes you feel so cold
It's got so many people
But its got no soul

And it's taken you so long
To find out you were wrong
When you thought
It held everything

You used to think
That it was so easy
You used to say
That it was so easy
But you're trying
You're trying now

Another year and
Then you'd be happy
Just one more year
And then you'd be happy
But you're crying
You're crying now

Way down the street
There's a light in his place
You open the door
He's got that look on his face

And he asks you
Where you've been
You tell him who you've seen
And you talk about anything

He's got this dream
About buying some land
He's gonna give up the booze
And the one night stands

And then he'll settle down
It's a quiet little town
And forget about everything

But you know
He'll always keep moving
You know he's never
Gonna stop moving
Cause he's rolling
He's the rolling stone

And when you wake up
It's a new morning
The sun is shining
It's a new morning
And you're going

You're going home

I got it! The song is "Easy" by Timbuk 3. They were a husband-wife duo, who had a big hit with "The Future's So Bright I Gotta Wear Shades". "Easy" was taken from their 1988 album "Eden Alley".
