In a Honda civic 92 EG/EH ABS D16z6

2007-04-09 01:45:28 · 6 answers · asked by MG 1 in Cars & Transportation Car Makes Honda

course my abs is faulty atm so i cant test it, but was wondering as in the manual it sais it works by detecting difference in individuel wheelspeed and releasing presure to the caliper. OK so i just answered my own question but still, does it still operate when you wheelspin as in does the selenoid still open up releasing any presure to the caliper when you wheelspin.

Civic and traction Control in 1992- Nope

But some have left false impressions here. The Teves Mk III ABS has a Traction Control Function from the early 90"s and appears across many Brands of cars(Think Accord/Legend in Honda world).

ABS on a Civic seems a bit ridiculous, but your brakes should work just fine with it being broken and fixing it is optional. My suggestion is learn to drive and you will never want ABS. Frankly only the Posers want it and the true enthusiast is most happy to delete that option when ordering their car. I do make A LOT of money fixing the stuff though!

ABS, or 'anti-lock brake system'(s) provides an automated, modulated (relatively high frequency) brake actuation-release that affords some ability to steer a vehicle under aggressive/hard braking, such as during panic stops.

Newer systems such as VSA, or vehicle stability assist (names vary by make) may operate to limit drive wheel slippage while under power...thus reducing risk of loss of control of steering.

no the only way that would work is with the newer hondas that have the vsa...vehicle stability assist....your regular abs on your 92 only works when braking

Abs only works while braking.. but if your abs is faulty it could cause the brakes to lock up at any time.

ABS does not work while accelerating. It would be "Traction Control" that would be keeping wheels from spining. I do not believe your car should have it. Not many vehicles in the early/mid 90's had it.
