Along with the many rude and racist comments said before, do you think IMUS on MSNBC in the morning should be fired for his comments about Rutgers womens basketball team calling them nappy headed hoes. The Team is all African American and women of course. At the same time he said the Tennesse team were beautiful, who's team is also majority African American but lighter skin African Americans. We know we meant this b/c be brought up Spike Lee's Movie in reference to his comment.

I wouldn't apologize. I think they only people who should be mad are the nappy headed hoes. I think people need to lighten up. Why is everything racist. I know nappy headed white people. I am white, and u should see my hair when i wake up after a good night. It seems to me that black people are oversensitive. I know that is going to get pissed off, but i don't care. If you automatically assume if someone says nappy then they are talking about black people, than you must not like your self. Al sharpton is mad? big deal. HE HAS THE NAPPIEST HEAD I HAVE EVER SEEN> if your hair is nappy get over it. I think that it is just a bunch of dumb crap.

Too late...they already did it...I can still listen to Imus on wfan but msnbc will lose viewers, in my opinion. Funny thing is..lots of people making comments never even heard of Imus much less listen to him on a daily basis as I do. They were spoon fed by the media and this is getting waaay more attention than is neccesary considering we have our children(of all races) in a foreign country fighting and dying every day.
His firing had more to do with msnbc advertisers than anything. Well, lots of people WON'T be watching now...so there ya go.
Imus will go on in spite of this and continue to do his good works no matter what anyone says.
PS~ the Rutgers team is NOT all afro-american there are 2 white girls on that team

I don't like Imus, hes a step above Stern and Rush, in terms of nasty behavior, he couldn't have been more wrong calling the women's teams what he did, simply because they are athletes and college students, not entertainers or what passes for celebrities today. You can pretty much say what you will about people who put themselves out there like Rosie, or Paris and Nichole, or even politicians, but these were normal people engaging in a game where one side is going to win and the other to lose and neither deserves disparagement.
The thing is, is he a racist because he said a disgusting thing?
Or did he just say a disgusting thing?
Racism really requires an ongoing bias against a specific race, Imus just doesn't have that, the only race hes against is the human race, all of it.
If we can him for racism, and Rosie for leftness, and Sharpton for anti-white-ism, and Newt for hypocrisy there will be no one left to speak. If the mans actions do not reflect a racist attitude( like not hiring blacks) then don't fire him.
No one is going to melt due to a radio hacks attempt to be funny.

Imus…….Minus….. Whatever this guy name is, All I have been hearing for the last few days are “excuse after excuse” as to why he did it, how he is sorry now, how others said it first, (I have heard better excuses from my five year old kid). These are public radio airwaves, I am sure he can find a job at XM Satellite Radio or FoxNews. He is still an employee and if his employer wants to fire him, I say good! There will be no great loss to our society if this guy gets out of radio. Let’s face it, for what he brings to the table any “Joe six pack” could do without any real training. I hope he gets fired. This rich old guy calling kids names, what an idiot.

No, I don't believe Imus is racist or should be fired, although I think his producer is -- the bald headed guy. But if we step back sometimes and see the fun that people poke against each other, and just put a black personality in its place we would say bingo, just as I thought. I think we should move on.

Imus has learnt a lot from this, probably more than all his years in radio. And the good thing is that he does appear to be genuinely sorry. He will take this to his grave. Let's give him a break and show to the world that we can rise above anything.

Absolutely Not. Reprimanded yes....Fired no! I believe that all of us have been guilty at one time or another with either racist remarks spoken or thoughts. Then should we all be fired. If that is the case, I'm running out and buying up a paper tomorrow morning. They'll be tons of job openings. Since they have decided to throw Imus under the bus, I have been contacting acquaintances and relatives to ask them NOT TO WATCH MSNBC starting Monday when Imus starts his two week suspension. We'll just have to suffer with watching Fox and CNN.....until they bring Imus back to us viewers.

After reading what people posted about the Imus fiasco, here is what I think:

The "Freedom of Speech" claim:
Many claims it is just his opinion, and his right to freedom of speech. To me, an opinion is "I like apple more than oranges.". To refer to a group as "nappy headed hoes" is just slander because you would then have to prove that they are all indeed hoes. Just as a journalist cannot write something in the newspaper that is not true, else they risk getting sued. However, if Imus said, "I don't like nappy headed hoes" then I think that would constitute as an opinion and that should be okay.

The "Rappers said it too" claim:
Same goes with rappers, if they say something in the context of an opinion, then that is okay. If they direct it to someone or a group, then they too have to be held accountable for what they rap.

The "Other races have nappy hair too" claim:
If I am not mistaken, the fuss is about the whole phrase "nappy headed hoes" but rather then the word "nappy" itself. The whole phrase would probably translate to "those girls with nappy hair on their heads are hoes". True that they might have nappy hair, but they are not hoes (unless proven so). Calling them "hoes" without prove is what is derogatory.

Imus must be fired. If the comment were about anyone else there would be no argument. If he said something like that about jews he would be destroyed. First of all, who the hell is this guy that he should comment about anything? What has he done in his life? He's a schmuck sitting on his *** making disgusting comments that have nothing to do with the ability of the people involved. GET RID OF THE BASTARD!

Even though we live in a free society, everyone lives with restrictions. Guess what kinds of these I cannot say on MY job? Can I call my boss a nappy headed hoe and still work there? Of course not. But guess what? I knew that already!! What is Imus 9 years old? News flash...we live in America, but there are things you can say at work and lose your entire career. Everyone in America lives with that, so why should you be any different?

While his comments were not viewed as being very nice, this was something he didn't make up on the spot. These words and language have been used in the black community before by black men but no one said anything then. What about the black 'rappers' who say things about both black and white women?
It was an unfortunate choice of words, but that's Imus. He should not be fired.

I don't think he should be fired, but I think McGuirk should be. I used to listen to Imus in the morning and he was funny but McGuirk would always make racist comments in the background. He was the one who always said something anti whoever and Imus would go with the flow. It Imus' show so he is responsible for his people. I still won't listen to him but I think he and McGuirk will be more careful, (for awhile anyway)
