Beauty is in the eyes of the one who sees.
You may say someone is ugly but to other persons this same one may looks beautiful.

Everyone (Humans) are born beautiful being that we were all created by God in his image but the world standard of beauty may beg to differ however Beauty is in the eye of the beholder (what i may think or who i may find attractive may seem weird to another and vice versa )

Probably has to do with the coupling. A good looking pair will produce good looking off spring. A bland pair will produce bland off spring. Even if a good looking mate has a fair to somewhat looking mate, chances are the off spring will get lucky and not inherit bland genes. Maybe good looking genes prevail that way. Then again, who was it that determined for generations what is beautiful and what is ugly. If we all weren't so fixated on this very subject, there'd be no make-up and cosmetic surgery to hide behind.

Genetics fool. the perception of what is good looking changes at light speed compared to physical changes in the human animal. Did you know for expample that a feminine looking man was considered best 400 years ago and that 200 years ago being fat was best, as it was a sign of wealth and success, all men and women wanted fat people the most. Now times have changed and people want skinny women and toned men/ i am not fat so i don't mind, but it is all just down to genetic pairing.

There is no reason to it. It just is, that's all.
Why do things like this need to have a reason?
It implies a deeper meaning to physical characteristics. When really it's just genetics.
The real question is - why do we even see beauty and ugliness?

Because a lot of ugly people are beautiful inside.

I don't like the term ugly. Everyone has beauty in them...it's looking beyond what one sees.

I think it's because God has different plans for each of us. He may not want Sarah to be pretty because it just doesn't fit her plan, but beauty is just right for Krystal's. Y'know, Jesus wasn't cute. So, if you're asking this question because you think you're ugly (and you're probably not half as bad as you think you are) you're in good company!
