My son is 15 months.

I have made a compromise with my husband that we will be weaned by 2.

first daughter - 14 months
second daughter - 1 year (was forced to wean as I had to leave the country for a funeral.)

I would have kept it up as long as possible because I love the bonding.

the first six months of breastfeeding - you are the sole supply of food - but as the baby gets on to 8 or 9 months, you aren't the only source of food, so there is more freedom for you and you feel less like a milk bar. It's great bonding time and good quiet time for both you and your baby - enjoy it...I always loved those quiet cuddle moments.

Hi, I think this is relevant. My sister had a beautiful babygirl on Feb 7 2007 . And she is currently breastfeeding . I asked her how long she is going to breastfeed and she said 4 Months . After that she will go onto Forumla . That is the information she got from her Mid Wife . Hope this helps :)

I breast fed my baby for 8 1/2 months. I was planning on 12 months, but I needed the break by 8 1/2. She had 1 bottle from about 4 weeks old to settle her at nights, and she found it an easy transition to replace breast milk with bottles as she was having 3 "solid" meals per day as well.

My cousin's son is 9m and she still breastfeeds him. He has two lower teeth, but that doesn't seem to bother her. I've heard the recommended time is 12m, but don't feeel bad if you can't breastfeed that long. Remember some babies just don't take to it well, and when they start getting teeth some babies bite. My brother use to bite my mom when he was a baby. I've always been told even the just the first few weeks can be a small benefit to your baby.

My son is 8 months old and I am still breastfeeding. I plan to do it as long as I am comfortable with it. His teeth have started hurting when he sucks vigorously. If I can I will do it till 1 year.
