Everytime I walk past a construtcuion site they stare and stop what they're doing and they say stuff like "hey baby, keep trucking" or "hey mamicaita" Why are they doing this?

It is kind of "required" of them to do so, but it is rather juvenile of them to do so.
They see a lot of people and feel compelled to belch out something that they think is a compliment

I worked for a Construction Company for nearly 13 years and I know several of the Construction Manager, Project manager and superintendents all made very good money. It's hard work, but the money is good.

I've worked on construction sites for more than 30 years -- it's just kind of a tradition to make comments about nice looking women (and, in the case of us lady hard-hats, cute guys) that pass by. Construction work is hard, boring and often painfully uncomfortable. Anything that distracts and entertains you while doing it is a welcome diversion. The majority of guys on construction sites aren't rude pigs -- in fact they will usually yell things like that even at plain or unattractive looking women, just to make them feel noticed. It's kind of a charming and harmless activity, in my opinion. Don't let it bother you -- they are bored and flirting with you, as much to show off to each other as to get a reaction from you. Relax and enjoy it. Blow them a kiss and it will make their day.

Obviously they are paying you a compliment. Do you honestly believe you have any power whatsoever over who pays you a compliment or speaks? I'm sure they mean no harm. It's just a guy thing and they always get a good laugh from it... Accept it and move on...

They think you are hot and they are trying to show off for the other guys.
They think it's cool.
I don't know why. I don't like to mac when other people are around. I like a one on one with a girl. I guess I just don't like impressing other people. It's what I think of me that matters.

maybe becuae your pretty, once this really ugly and fat woman walked past and they wer whistlingand shoutin sexy and everything, yes they were being sarcastic.
i felt so sorry for her.
