I am not looking for names or donations just whether you would be interested in such a project or is this idea stupid.

I was thinking that a lot of people would like to see mankind in space properly (i.e. able to use the resources there available).

I think it would do a lot to secure our planets bio-sphere and generally advance mankind. As ever the project is mostly in the hands of governments and governments are generally incompetent.

I wondered if anyone else would consider contributing either with work, materials or money to such a project.

With the advances in Internet communication and the general increase in world wealth I believe that it is something that could be achieved by a large group of people.

Would you be interested?

yes, i would be interested in it . It's just because i like studying about the universe, and ever since the day i could remember i had my interest in space programs .

this field is directly or indirectly involved in the advancement of mankind , none can deny that.

seriously people need a broader mind to appreciate this kind of work. each and every people's mentality differs . Not everybody can have their interest in the same field.

this is a field were people work knowing that the risk they take in space might not always end up in positive results.
and how many people do you think would be interested in investing money for this kind of space programs. the probability now becomes less.

It's just the interest. how much the people are ready to the work depends on their interest.

The U.S govt. itself is not ready to spend money for S.E.T.I (Search for extra Terrestrial Inteligence-NASA) . their project naturally would sound lame for any normal person. how would any body invest an enormous amount for the search of E.T(which none has the hope of sighting)

It sure does sound ridiculus to some . BUT i dont think so and i belive space project is a worth-taking work. i'm sure now, you know how i think.

Yes i will contribute my support to the space and universe development for my entire life,
we never knew that we will come this far , think if our scientist never mad any experiments in their life, when we would be still holding stones to hunt , sleeping on the trees whole boys is covered with leaves and mud don't know what we are doing , it is our nature that we make our life time expand and it is our right to know what is there beneath us and above us, it is our universe, and we ggot right ot explore it for new resources and make our life happier, with out this kind of experiments we can't help our life to be more secure,
i support the government to support its project for the sake of hum man ,{ mankind} which will make our life brighter.

Your idea is not stupid. Infact it´s so good it´s already been thought of. I have contributed, via internet, to space exploration, cancer studies, psyhics and climate studies for years. First via SETI@home and now via boinc.
http://boinc.berkeley.edu/
Take a look and see if you would like to contribute yourself. You really don´t have to do anything. In fact it is when you are NOT doing anything that you are doing something. Your computer is doing the work. I´m thinkng about getting into Malaria research aswell. How about you?

The question is who or which companies might make investments the money to construct area-ships and what might the exopected returns be.- If money is to be invested via inner maximum concerns then what is going to the returns be... see - the whiole challenge has to yield a efficient return alongside with finding gold deposits on the moon etc, in any different case inner maximum concerns are going to envision suuch initiatives with a jaundiced eye, they want a return on their investment, see?

Manned spaceflight is a waste of effort.
There is no point in being up there, it consumes resources that would be much better spent on robotic projects.
There are a lot of questions to be answered in our solar system, and none require us to go and look ourselves.

There is no point in considering terraforming another planet, because we have shown its not possible for us to use THIS planet sensibly.

There is no point in going to another star. By the time we get there we will have evolved into something else, if we even made it there.

I would maybe contribute with manpower, sounds like it would be an interesting thing to be involved with, but not with money, I don't have much to spare.

If I was part of a mission that involved many women, and my job was to populate Mars, then yes.
