Because it's easier and more convenient - they assume what they would like it to be, instead of asking and finding out that it's something not for their taste.

I guess I could kind of turn that around a little and say 'why do people assume
we know the answer to a non question.' You didn't 'ask' a question so I can't

As humans, its just what we do. We judge books by their covers too often and unfortunately society has followed suit and we are all stuck this way!
