There is nothing more painful than not being able to deal with, or accept, pain. Of course there are many different kinds of pain; emotional, physical, spiritual, etc.
People suffer the pain of having nothing, and then suffer the pain of worrying about losing what they DO have. If we realise that whatever the situation there will be pain and we have to accept it, then life can become a lot more painless!
Buddhist monks who set themselves on fire while meditating are a testimony to the fact that pain is in our heads and that it is up to us how pain plays a role in our lives: deal with it, or suffer the pain of not dealing it on top of what is already there.
A broken arm is a lot more painful when there are no doctors around, therefore I say that there is nothing more painful than feeling pain and worrying that it can not be dealt with.
