It's an insult to every soldier and family who have lost there lives and have not received compensation for it.

The MOD have got this totally wrong.

Why should they be rewarded for failing at there jobs. When the real hero's are those brave soldiers who are maimed and killed for there actions and can no longer support there family's they deserve the money not failures :)

What if all the sailors who sold their stories gave all their fees to the British Legion, would everyone disapprove then? I don't wish to play Devil's Advocate, I have nothing but the upmost respect for all the forces (read some of my other answers to similar questions in this vein and you'll see what I mean) I have always maintained that I am too selfish and too scared to put my life on the line for my country, so I would never judge or criticise those that do so. As an ex-soldier you have every right, you know exactly what you are talking about, and I have nothing but respect for you and your principles.
What I do have a problem with, and I'm sure you will have too, are the amount of people on this site who have never been in such a situation but are so quick to judge. They all say they wouldn't have done it, but the truth is, until they've been in that situation THEY WILL NEVER KNOW, regardless of what they THINK they'd do.
In my humble opinion, these people are putting their lives on the line for us on a daily basis, if they can get a little something back for the sacrifice they may have to pay in the future, so be it. Not just these sailors, but everyone who is, or has ever been, in any of the forces. In such a greedy, power-hungry, f***** up world, such selfless, benevolent people must surely be rewarded?

No? Oh.OK. I apologise if I offended any military personel or their families on-site, I was defending you in a way, but if I got it wrong I'm very sorry, that wasn't my intention.

You draw the Line at anything that dishoners the uniform you wore.

Men before you have worn that uniform of whatever regiment and did so proudly, many will have died.

If you have witnessed or been part of any actions which disgraced that uniform and dishornored you regiments history then you are obliged to report it.

Anything less and you are nothing but a scumbag and a disgrace to the Army

My personnel opinion, which i know won't be liked is that we will go to war with Iran, and the government is arranging for the public to support them by allowing the army to allow the sailors to sell there stories

Hazing is not an official secret. But if you were in the airborne and don't mind having your squad pound your jump wings into your bare chest; go right ahead.

There are better ways to handle this. Go up the chain ! but do NOT bring more bad press to our soldiers. Someone will listen...eventually.

Interesting! Contact a local newspaper with your stories and if they are worth publishing, they will do so!
