My grandmother has severe arthritis in her left hand and is unable to go on certain medication because of blood pressure and other complications. I have found massaging her hands really helps her, but does anyone else have any home remedies that might help? I am going to put a deep heat cream with a glove on her before she goes to bed.

I would recommend having her situation evaluated by a rheumatologist. Some of the rheumatologists are drs of osteopathic medicine which means that they also offer alternative treatments besides the conventional medications. They can help her to figure out a good and safe treatment based on her history.

Massaging of the hands (reflexology, which is also done on the feet) can be very helpful to the pain.

You could also try a lotion that has things in it like lavendar which can be relaxing.

Check out http://www.arthrtis.about.com and Arthritis for Dummies for even more info on alternative treatments that could be helpful.

A dull ache when you bend joints... fingers, wrists, knees. It has to be consistant... if you are only aching for a couple of days then it could be due to an injury you don't remember or maybe you are just tired or have been doing more activity than usual. It also gets more intense when it is cold, so you might notice it more during winter. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do. If it is really painful then maybe you can get tablets form your doctors, but it will be for life... The typical response is to grin and bear it. It is part of life.
