Actually alot of Christianity is based off of Paganistic views. Constantine was just a fascist asshole who tried to cover up alot of things and surpress Gnostic ideas. He thought that the ones that seek knowledge are trying to be like God. But in real life, we just want to understand God and the way of things.
Sorry to offend all you big Orthodoxians.

I think you need to learn more about history.
The Roman empire was in a shambles. They were fighting among themselves and they had stopped expanding due to natural barriers they were having difficulty crossing.
The reason the Roman empire was so powerful up until that point is because they conquered everything they could see.
Constantine was a very intelligent man. He saw that his empire was falling apart. The old religion was falling, the people were losing hope and things were getting worse by the day including riots by the Roman populace.
But here came Christianity. Something new to hold the people together.
So this very intelligent man started to promote it. Contrary to Christian propaganda, he NEVER converted to Christianity, even on his deathbed.
But he DID use Christianity to accomplish a short term consolidation and renewal of Roman power.
What he was afraid of was his countries very long lived power failing massively. And it did fail. It was only a matter of time.
What Constantine managed to accomplish was nothing short of amazing. He managed to convince the people of the most powerful nation in the world to drop their old gods and join the new. Quite an incredible accomplishment. He must have been a man of great charisma to do it.
Constantine did NOT do it to further Christianity. He did it to try to save his country by bringing them together under one belief system.
He was a great man.
Unfortunately, like so many leaders, he saw the short term gains as preferable to the long term losses.

You can question it, but every scholar will tell you that Christianity was founded on paganism, it’s historical fact whether Christians like it or not. But there’s nothing really wrong with that, every religion borrowed from an older one (ie. much of Judaism came from the Mesopotamian religions, etc.), it’s just the way religions evolve.

The idiocy of so called "Christian Traditions" aside, one merely has to read the Bible in order to understand that God views pagan practices as harlotry. Evil. Against the truth, etc.
We have documents way older than Constantine to show this.
Pagans were practicing evil things before Christianity. And the Old Testament shows clearly that God hated pagan worship.
To a Chrisian, if God said that it was evil, then it is. Not that a Christian isn't evil, we are just saved evil things. By faith through grace as God promised.

Christianity was thought up to control the masses - make people believe they would be punished for all eternity if they stole their neighbours cow, slept with someone else's woman, hated someone passionately. They were taught the 10 commandments so that they could be controlled, nothing more. They were scared of the pagans because they saw them as being uncontrollable. Their solution? Kill them. Simple. The christians ruined so many cultures in this big world of ours through force, which i believe contradicts all their beliefs anyway. Obviously they see it as being ok if you kill someone that doesn't believe in god. To appease the masses, the church incorporated some pagan rituals into their religion so the people would feel a little better about the whole thing.
It's all a crock anyway.

What the heck are you talking about? Christmas is a time to celebrate the SUN? Are you daft? And by daft I mean DUMB! Nobody in their sane minds would worship a son over the messiah Jesus Christ. Are you crazy? Go read the bible.

You're confusing the history of Catholocism with the true church of Christ. Christianity is not about Santa Claus, and the Easter bunny.
Sorry but I have to ask you to use your God given intelligence to search out the history of our faith. Then ask a question that hasn't been abused so many times as the one you have asked here.
