Sometimes I want to eat a clove or two with almost every meal, does this affect my system adversely? Or is it good? Would a chinese herbalist caution against the "heat" of this food?

Please no comments abouts stinky breath of course I brush before approaching anyone.

I don't know about Chinese herbalists, but my family (being Eastern Europeans) eat that much per day all their lives without any bad effects. Except for the smell! Brushing your teeth won't stop you from wafting garlicky fumes from every pore of your body as well as from your mouth (the mucous lining of your mouth, that is, which won't be affected by any amount of brushing or mouthwash). The compound that gives garlic its odor does not digest and you will give off its smell for several hours after eating any. In your case that would mean continuously.

Let me tell you a story.

One time in university, I thought that garlic was a good means to cure my cold. I love the taste of garlic and I'm open to natural remedies.

Anyway, I chopped up a bunch of garlic and swallowed quite a few small cloves whole with water. I put at least a whole garlic thing into my system.

So, there I am at class and I let out a few silent farts. A few minutes later some guy starts complaining about how someone must've eaten a lot of garlic at lunch. He had no clue it was me, because if he smelled my breath, there was nothing. I never actually chewed any garlic. It just went straight through my system.

The cold did go away quickly, but I also realized that those farts were very powerful.

In a crowd, if you're good at it, you can get away with it. I was single at the time, so I wasn't going home to anyone. Otherwise, that would've been dangerous.

Just something to think about.

As the saying goes..."Everything in moderation". While garlic is good for you, too much can be bad for you also. I'm not sure of the health effects of too much garlic, but I do know that aside from the "garlic breath" it could also leach out through your pores and cause a stench as well.

i always advise people to eat as much garlic daily as the rewards are that it tends to lower blood pressure and helps prevent arthritis.
there are even garlic oil in gel capsules for those who are over-reactive to the taste and smell and i will agree to whatever benefits it says in the bottle

garlic contains poisons that humans can tolerate quite well, but too much raw garlic can be harmful to the liver.
