My understanding is that the world will NOT end like ' the world exploding '. type of end. It is to be more of the end of the way we currently live, act, think and relate with one another as we do now.

It's been expressed that in the year 2012 or 2013...a new awareness, an ' awakening ' will occur.

If you were in a closed off dark room...then if some windows, doors were opened and light was brought into that room.. .then light would be seen. Those in the room would no longer be in darkness...yet the the room did not end...it was not destroyed...simply (en)lightened.

Same as what is written that will occur in the year 2012 or 2013. The world will not ' end '...yet it will ' end ' as we know know it to be today and how we live and treat each other.

Enlightenment and awareness is occurring as we speak . . . as a dimmer switch that is slowly being turned up...more and more light is being revealed.

We also have a responsibility (free will) to see and absorb that awareness and enlightenment that is occurring.

We are living in the ' storm before the calm ' era of days.

The folks at Family Radio believe the Final Judgment and Second Coming of Christ will be in the fall of 2011.

For example see the book “Time Has an End” on line at:
http://www.timehasanend.org/public/en_time_has_an_end_cont.html

This group, whose primary teacher is one Harold Camping, also believes the Church Age has ended in 1988 and believers are to come out of the churches as they are now under the control of malevolent forces now that the Tribulation has begun. Mr. Camping’s interpretations of the bible are highly allegorical, so let the reader beware.

See the book Time Has an End, Ch. 10:
http://www.timehasanend.org/public/en_time_has_an_end_ch10.html

That said, the online audio lectures at Family Radio, are illuminating and worth a listen:
See: http://worldwide.familyradio.org/zusa/english/connect/audio_archive/echoes/frame/download/download.html

Finally, for the offline version of the Family Radio nightly call in show, where folks ask questions about the bible to Mr. Camping, see:
http://worldwide.familyradio.org/zusa/english/connect/audio_archive/forum/frame/

I am not endorsing Family Radio’s doctrines, but one is able to learn quite a bit by listening to these materials.

Nope!
There isn't anyone who can say for certain that this world will end at a certain date.
For every individual it should be noted that they themselves will come to the end of the world upon their death. Nobody knows when they will die.
As a whole; this world and it's population will go on for at least another thousand years. The world as we know it will end: with the end of an evil reign. Here I'm speaking in a Biblical term. Afterwards we will live under the reign of purity. Hard to believe I know, but only the faithless will argue that.

I thought it was supposed to end in 2000. And again in 2002. Then again I saw an article in one of those rediculous tabloids that claimed it was going to end on my most recent birthday (11/09/06).

The Millenium's over. Enough with the Apocalypse scares.

I thought it was supposed to be 2012. Meh. Doesn't matter really. The world is not going to end any time soon. It existed just fine before we came along and will continue to exist just fine long after we're gone.

No. We still have the Great Tribulation, the Millennium, and what happens after it. The Great Tribulation might happen then, but not the end of the World.

none of us knows for sure when it will be, just know that the preachers say it is coming. where did you get your date from? just wondering. people have been disputing this argument for many years now. just have to be ready and make sure you truly have taken Jesus Christ as your personal savior. have a blessed week.
