People may mock your question, but I think you raise a valid point.
There was a frightening rise in the number of cases of people wanting to be Tom Hanks, following the release of The DaVinci Code, and this is not the first time such bizarre phenomena have occurred.
I have one question, regarding 'the black arts', is that like where you dress in black, paint your bedroom black, paint your fingernails black and then mope around like some kind of 'struggling artist'?
Harry Potter, the Emo phase. JK Rowlings absolutely last ever book... It'd make a fortune...

Nope. Did stories about King Arthur and Merlin encourage you to take up the black arts? Did stories about the Tooth Fairy, Santa Clause, the Easter Bunny and other parental lies cause you irreparable harm?

Fantasy and role playing are a part of growing up. Active imaginations lead to creative adults. It is FUN to escape reality. Don't you remember your childhood?

http://www.sullivan-county.com/identity/intol_right.htm

The Christian right are intolerant of free thinkers. They feel they have little or nothing to learn from perspectives other than their own. They wish to raise their children in "closed" sometimes "Anglo only" environments, exposing them as little as possible to the "corrupting" influences of the outside world. Indeed, by isolating their children this way, they pass on their intolerance to their progeny. Music and art to the Christian right must conform to their biblical beliefs. For example, lyrics or art labeled "pornographic," films and/or books that accept, not necessarily promote, homosexuality as an alternative life style are condemned as corrupting influences on youth. The Christian right, almost gratuitously makes homosexuality a rallying point, a way to raise "true believers" in thoughtless, easy condemnation. They readily claim that the country is run by homosexuals and blame them for numerous social ills. To many of the Christian right, AIDS represents God's punishment of homosexuals.

THEIR HATRED ONLY MEANS that they do not understand the true meanings of the bible that they are so fond of quoting and that THEIR attitude can only mean one thing. THAT according to their religion, their behaviour and hatred condemns them and that THEY WILL GO TO THE HELL THAT THEY WISH ON EVERYONE ELSE.

I do hope it gives them a more open view towards paganism, satanism and witchcraft. Unlike most people in this country who believe it's wrong and have absolutely no idea what it's about. I'm pretty sure the media has everything thing to do with their ignorance. Have you seen Looney Toons?

Well considering the stories have been out a few years now, I'd say no.
I think the only people who are worried about this are religious zealots, who are not in any danger of giving in to the dark arts.

No. It is a fictional story. Every generation has stories with witch craft and the "black arts". You don't see a bunch of witches running around now, so why would it influence the kids today.

Taking your car to the garage doesn't make you want to be a mechanic. It doesn't have influence, it is a story for entertainment purposes, that's all. No need to be paranoid or supersticious.

No. ITS ENTERTAINMENT.

Geez, you might as well start talking that way about Snow White and Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast too.

Get over it.
