Long conversations as well frequent listening to mobile can affect our audible system and neurosystem adversely. But in the present world people don`t care them much. If you can control yourself to certain extent , it will be good. Why to suffer a lot and get a meagre benefit ??

All answers are valid so far.

But

In your case start by adjusting volume. Make sure you do not let phone touch your ear, keep it away.

It (discomfort) should go away, in no time. Or see a doctor, you may have a rash or a "Callus", under your ears.

Radiation was suspected to cause brain tumour but they have toned down the intensity and redesigned the new phones. So get the best type of phone that suites your need, use speaker when possible.

Going def.

Any hearing device can make you go def if not properly used. So use it properly keep the volume as low as possible and comfortable.

In this instance it is probably the pressure applied continuously to one spot that is causing the pain. Ibuprofen should be of help.

There are lot of studies underway to see if there are any ill effects of long term exposure to radio waves to humans. As of now there is no positive result that shows that this causes a problem.

It may be advisable for very young children to avoid excessive use of cell phones. For adults also it may be worthwhile to use the phone alternately on both ears to even out any memory effects of one sided sound. Ear phones or bluetooth systems may also be useful for heavy users.
