facility? politically wrong, you have some explaining to do, mudmarine, you are proof that drill instructors dont hit recruits any more, why has the Marine Corps stooped so low to allow a woman commanding General? i asked this question before and a few Marines defended this. and you all attacked me for saying drill instructors should practice hands off, but you are all satisfied with a wman commanding officer of MCRD san diego!! this is an outrage!! san diego is the only real boot camp with all of the hills! parris islanders hump on flat land, i could do that all day at 46 years of age! my question is again, for a hardcore branch of the service, how can the Marine Corps allow a woman to be the commanding General? whats next? women drill instructors for men? if you allow a woman commanding General i see women drill instructors within five years. why has the Marine Corps stooped so low?

man if you think you can do Parris Island at 46 you are delusional to say the least. And WHY do you have a problem with a Female Commanding General? Are you in the Marines?

Tell you the truth your question is the first I have heard of this new MCRD CG. I just looked into it to find her name....BG Angela Salinas.

It seem a bit odd that you re getting so excited at this time. You do realize she has been the CG at MGR for 7 months? She assumed command August 11, 2006.

I am a former Army officer and never served under a female CO....but back in the '70s and '80's women didn't serve in combat units.

Out of curiosity, did you do your boot training at MCRD or Paris Island? And may I ask when? I did my basic at Ft. Jackson, SC and then completed OCS at Ft. Benning, GA.

Marine corps officers are not hard core. They are managers plain and simple. Some are old war horses but some are soft.

The enlisted Sgt Majors, now that's a leather neck.

In the Marines we give respect to officers but often don't respect their judgments. That's why boot Lieutenants catch hell.

I am sorry but as ex-Army, this is called equal opportunity. This is not going to be a position that is going into combat. I might be wrong with it because I never served in the Marines.
