No, mechanical properties are inherent in the material. However, some materials, particularly metals, undergo changes in processing. So the properties of a cast bar, for example, might be different from a forged or extruded one.

when you deform a metal bar it bears work hardening and become harded . any kind of deformation , without heat treatment , change all of its mechanical properties . offcourse different shape have different properties . when you have a bar with a narrow section it has concenteration of stress.and so on.
